A Journey Through Acts

February 1 – February 28, 2022

 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

“The Book of Acts is the story of the disciples receiving what Jesus received in order to do what Jesus did.”

“The Gospels tell what “Jesus began to do and teach,” and Acts tells what the risen Lord continues to do and teach through the Holy Spirit.”

WEEK TWO- The good news spread from Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria…

 

WEEK FOUR- The good news began to be spread to the uttermost parts of the earth!

 

Monday, February 21 – Read Acts 21 

This passage gives several warnings given by the Holy Spirit that Paul would encounter trouble during his visit to Jerusalem, but the apostle persisted(v14). Later being arrested and sent to Rome, God’s Will was ultimately done.

Prayer focus: Determined to follow God’s Plan

Pray for clarity from the Holy Spirit concerning God’s plan for you in 2022.  Ask the Lord to help you stay focused despite challenges or hardships. Spend time thanking God for His miraculous plan for your life.

“Be bold and courageous. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

 

Tuesday, February 22- Read Acts 22

Paul gives his testimony.  ( vs.1-21)

 Prayer focus: Tell your story

Pray that God will give you greater boldness to tell your story. Ask for opportunities to be opened for you share your faith. Pray for our leaders, especially our Pastors and Staff at the River to gain new strategies from the Holy Spirit to reach our community with the Gospel.

“The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open.” Isaiah 22:22

 

Wednesday, February 23 – Read Acts 23 

There was a plot to kill Paul in prison, but Paul’s nephew overheard the men talking and went to warn Paul. (v16) “God speaks through angels, dreams, and visions. At other times He uses people and very ordinary situations.”-SFLB

Prayer focus: The Right Place

Pray that God will lead you to be in the right place at the right time! Ask for the Holy Spirit to give you sensitivity to follow where He leads. Declare that you will have divine appointments and that your steps will be ordered of the Lord.

“The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.” Psalms 37:23

 

Thursday, February 24 – Read Acts 24

Paul defends his faith to Felix. He spent the next two years in prison giving him time to share the gospel often with the governor.

Prayer focus: The Right Time

Pray that we will be in step with God, moving in His perfect timing.  Ask for understanding of the times we are living in, making the best of every opportunity we are given.

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over the day is almost here.” Romans 13:11, 12a

 

Friday, February 25 – Read Acts 25

God continues to thwart attempts to take Paul’s life. Further opportunities to share “about a certain Jesus who died, who Paul affirmed to be alive.” (v19)

Prayer focus: God’s Protection

Pray for closed countries to be open to the Gospel. Pray for persecuted believers to be protected. Pray for the “underground church.”

“No weapon formed against you will succeed; and every tongue that rises up against you in judgement you will condemn.” Isaiah 54:17 AV

 

Saturday, February 26- Read Acts 26

Paul’s compelling argument for Christ “almost” persuades King Agrippa to become a Christian.

Prayer focus:  Contend for souls

Pray for prodigal sons and daughters to come home. Pray for strongholds to be broken. Pray for breakthrough for those who are resistant to believe.

“The weapons of our warfare are not physical. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of strongholds. We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the true knowledge of God…” 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5a

Sunday, February 27- Read Acts 27

The description of being 14 days lost at sea is harrowing. In the midst of the “nightmare” at sea an Angel of the Lord assures Paul that no one will be lost.

Prayer focus:  Take Heart during the Storm

In whatever storm you may be facing pray for your faith to be steady. Ask the Lord for a word of encouragement you can stand on.

“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still! Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:39 NIV

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” Isaiah 43:2 NIV

 

Monday, February 28- Read Acts 28

The last chapter in Acts describes Paul’s arrival in Rome, “his preaching the Kingdom of God, and teaching the things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ with all confidence, no one forbidding him.” (v31)

Prayer focus:  Destiny

Pray for God’s plan and purpose to be fulfilled in your life. Pray for an encounter with Jesus that reveals His heart for you. Declare that you will be who God created you to be and that you will do what He created you to do!

“I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT
